My Next Move's Interest Profiler is based on career research by John Holland, Ph.D., and is used by career counselors around the world. To take the assessment, expect to spend about ten minutes answering questions about the kinds of work activities you like or would like to try. The results will describe how closely your answers match with nearly 900 different occupations that have been profiled. Holland describes six different categories of interest areas for both people and occupations.

In In this video, Ben Todd seeks to help viewers get the Big Picture of career development as he reconfigures and reframes how to best find a satisfying career. His research-driven organization, 80,000 Hours, (the length of an average work life,) is dedicated to helping people do just that: find a fulfilling career from a silghtly not-so-usual starting point. The steps in this process can be summed up: explore, get good at flexible skills and, solve pressing problems.
